Law Firm Mergers at Record-Setting Pace

In the first nine months of 2015, 68 law firm mergers have been announced. That’s the highest number since 2007, when Altman Weil began keeping records. Large and midsize firms are cherry-picking small firms based on practice specialty and geography, according to Altman Weil. IP firms in particular are being targeted. In some cases, firms are choosing to merge rather than hire laterally.
