More Law Departments Done With Billable Hours?

Facing increasing budget pressure, more corporate law departments, this time in Canada, are pushing for alternative fee arrangements with outside counsel. At the same time, The Globe and Mail reports that some Canadian law firms are doing away with their typical structure to keep up with pricing pressures, including by outsourcing less complex legal tasks. The changes may go a long way to keeping legal department budgets consistent and predictable.
