Latest Littler Survey Finds Employers Wary Of Regulatory Ax

Among U.S. employers there is widespread concern about regulation and enforcement, notably regarding the Affordable Care Act (ACA), new overtime rules, and discrimination claims, according to the 2016 Executive Employer Survey from Littler Mendelson. The biggest change from last year was in the percent of respondents who expect more discrimination claims related to the rights of LGBT workers – 74 percent this year compared to just 31 percent in 2015. There was also an increase in the percent of respondents who expect an increase in the frequency of gender pay equity claims. With regard to the ACA, two thirds of respondents said they don’t expect a repeal even if a Republican becomes president, although about half of respondents indicated they would expect certain provisions – notably the “Cadillac” excise tax and the play-or-pay mandate – to be repealed or changed.
