Labor Unrest In Bangladesh Will Affect U.S. Retailers

Thousands of workers in Bangladesh demonstrated and clashed with police, forcing the closing of about 400 factories, some of which supply major U.S. retailers with cheap clothes. The workers want their minimum monthly salaries more than doubled, to $104. International retailers have been under pressure to improve work conditions in Bangladesh since the collapse of a factory complex earlier this year killed more than 1000 workers.
