Karen Buffkin Named GC For Connecticut Gov.

Karen Buffkin, who currently serves as deputy secretary in the state Office of Policy and Management, will be the new general counsel to Gov. Dannel P. Malloy when his second term begins Jan. 7. She will replace Luke Bronin, who announced Dec. 9 that he would resign. Before taking her current position at OPM, Buffkin had served there since 2011 as undersecretary for legal affairs. Prior to working at OPM, Buffkin was general counsel for the state Board of Labor Relations. She also served for eight years as general counsel in the Office of the State Comptroller under the leadership of Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman and eight years as assistant corporation counsel and special counsel in the City of Hartford.
