Judge’s Widow Files Discrimination Suit Against State Board That Employed Him

The widow of a California administrative judge has filed a discrimination suit against the state board where he worked. The California Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board had required that he commute twice a month to hearings that took place about an hour and half drive from where he normally worked in San Jose. That drive resulted in stress that eventuated in a heart attack that killed him, according to the lawsuit. The 74-year-old judge took a long bus ride from home to work every day because he had a heart condition and his doctor advised him to avoid driving, according to the suit.
