Judge Gets Two Years, Will Do 30 Days

A retired Pennsylvania judge who admitted stealing cocaine kept as drug evidence in his chambers pleaded guilty to three misdemeanors in the case. He was sentenced to up to 23 and a half months behind bars, but probably will serve only 30 days. In a plea for leniency he said his actions cost him his job, assets, family, pension, health care and reputation. The sentencing judge noted that the defendant founded the county’s drug court, and “decided to use the evidence to satisfy his drug use,” instead of availing himself of treatment options of which he was well aware.
