Judge Fired For Lying About Where He Lived

A Minnesota district judge must be dismissed from office immediately, ruled the Minnesota Supreme Court. In 2013, Anoka County District Judge Alan Pendelton sold his townhome located in his district. In a sworn statement accompanying his re-election filing he claimed he still resided there. Pendelton’s removal is only the fourth time in state history that the Supreme Court has dismissed a judge. One dissenting justice said he would have imposed a six-month suspension.
