Jones Day Hires ‘Stunning’ Number of SCOTUS Clerks

Ten individuals who have served as clerks for the U.S. Supreme Court – nearly one-quarter of the clerks who worked for the justices during the last term – have joined Jones Day. That is a “stunningly large number” to go to one law firm, said Harvard Law School professor Richard Lazarus. The clerks are expected to be taking in $300,000 each in signing bonuses. Over the three most recent hiring seasons, Jones Day has snagged 19 former Court clerks, and a total of 45 former SCOTUS clerks now work there.
