Is Global Patent Leadership Shifting To Europe?

Joff Wild, writing on the IAM (Intellectual Asset Management) blog makes the case that the center of gravity for intellectual property – in particular the resolution of IP disputes – is poised to shift to Europe. He maintains that the United States is becoming a less friendly place for a patent owner, “especially one that feels it has no alternative but to assert its rights in court,” and that the coming implementation of new European unitary patent system could be another component of “a perfect storm” that will make Europe a much higher priority for patent owners and litigants, and good news for patent attorneys in Europe.
