Investigations With No Charges Is Nothing New For Hillary

In 1998 prosecutors agonized about whether to bring charges against First Lady Hillary Clinton. The questions then – shifting explanations, whether there was an attempted cover-up of misconduct – will sound familiar to those who follow politics today. The issue was her legal work for Madison Guaranty Savings and Loan, which was owned by a business partner of the Clintons’ who was later convicted of fraud. Prosecutors decided not to seek an indictment of Hillary, partially because records that might have shed light on her knowledge of wrongdoing went missing from the Rose Law Firm, where she was a partner when the work was performed.
