Information Governance: Time For GCs To Step up

For most organizations today, the major problem is not information security, but information governance, writes Today’s General Counsel columnist Barclay T. Blair. He explains why it’s an issue that’s ripe for the general counsel’s attention. It’s time to deal with the fact the company probably has no clear idea what information it has, where it’s stored, who has access to it, or much of it really needs to be there, and as a result the company is probably spending vast amounts of money “protecting” information that it shouldn’t be holding in the first place. Here are the questions that GC s need to ask to begin a project that for many companies is long overdue.
