Indexing Makes Data On Varying Scales Manageable

Legal departments that are trying to look at changes in data over a period of time sometimes find they want to compare metrics that are not represented in the same way or in the same magnitude. For example, they might want to see how the number of patents applied for over several years stacks up against total invoices, total legal spending and total company revenue for those same years.
