In-House Survey: The State Of Cybersecurity

A survey of more than a thousand in-house attorneys, largely general counsel or chief legal officers, was released early this month by The Association of Corporate Counsel Foundation. Among the findings: One third of in-house counsel respondents had experienced a data breach, and 57 percent of companies that had experienced a data breach said the compromised information was not encrypted. Of those companies that had experienced a data breach, 19 percent were fully covered by cybersecurity insurance policies. Almost one fourth of reported data breaches were caused by employee error.
