Human Rights Lawyers Target Of Corporate Retribution

A group of lawyers who have specialized in bringing human rights violations against international corporations are feeling the sting of litigation themselves as the companies have begun to fight back. The case of a federal judge throwing out a $19 billion verdict against Chevron after finding the plaintiff lawyer had falsified evidence has gotten a lot of attention, but apparently it’s part of a trend. Chiquita and Dole have also raised questions about plaintiff lawyers who have gone after them, and coal producer Drummond has filed suit, the New York Times reports.
