The era of the hostile corporate takeover has come and gone, says a commentator, and now shareholder activists are beginning to play a role in some ways similar to that of the corporate raider. Some companies are responding with strategies analogous to the poison pill. What Halliburton did in its bylaws this month is a case in point.
