Houston Withdraws Pastor Subpoenas

After narrowing the scope of subpoenas sent to local pastors, lawyers for the city of Houston have now withdrawn them entirely. The city had asked for the content of sermons as part of an investigation into whether or not local religious leaders had advocated against an ordinance extending anti-discrimination protections to transgender people. Religious rights groups had spoken out, claiming the request was an unreasonable intrusion into church matters.
