House Speaker Sends Warning To “Draft Ryan” Group

Lawyers for House Speaker Paul Ryan have sent a cease and desist letter to the organizers of The Committee to Draft Ryan, a group set on collecting one million signatures in support of nominating Ryan as the Republican candidate for president. Draft Ryan, registered as a Super PAC, is “simply a patriotic effort to save our party and save our country,” spokesman David Catalfamo told Reuters. The letter from Ryan attorney Timothy Kronquist asks the group to stop raising money, saying the group is “potentially confusing and misleading people into supporting your organization,” because Ryan “has repeatedly announced … that he is not running for president in 2016.”
