Hot Stock: Attractive CEOs See Higher Assigned Share Values

A University of Wisconsin study found that a good-looking CEO has real and immediate benefits for a company: Attractive CEOs positively influence stock returns, get better results when engineering deals and have higher compensation “because they create more value for shareholders through better negotiating prowess and visibility.” The study also found that the attractiveness of a chief executive who appears on television has a significant impact on company stock performance. “Our findings suggest that factors unrelated to informational content, such as the attractiveness of interviewees on television, matter for stock returns,” the study said.
