Hastert Victim Files $1.8M Suit

A man known only as Individual A has filed a lawsuit against former House Speaker Dennis Hastert, claiming the politician – who has been found guilty of covering up hush money payments to men he sexually abused while coaching high school wrestling – owes him $1.8 million plus accrued interest. Hastert is set to be sentenced, but Individual A’s new breach-of-contract lawsuit claims Hastert still owes much of the $3.5 million he promised in exchange for keeping their deal confidential. Hastert pled guilty in October to illegally structuring bank withdrawals to avoid reporting requirements, covering up the $1.7 million he paid to Individual A.
