Harry Potter Shop Settles With Warner Brothers

Whimsic Alley, the LA shop that sells Harry Potter merchandise, can stay open after settling a lawsuit brought against it by Warner Brothers. The movie studio, which distributed the Potter films, has owned the bulk of the series’ trademark since 1998. Warner Brothers sued for trademark infringement in March, citing the store’s wares and services – like wizard costumes, wands, and even an event space fashioned after the Hogwarts “Great Hall.” Whimsic Alley won’t be shut down, but will no longer be allowed to display any Harry Potter trademarks or “confusingly similar” marks in the shop or on its website.
