Hacked Employees Settle With Sony

Sony Pictures Entertainment has reached a tentative settlement with former employees whose personal information, including Social Security numbers, were exposed after a massive data breach last year. The class action complaint – filed one month after it was revealed that Sony’s computer system had been infiltrated and emails, executive compensation details, copies of previously released films, and more were released – sought more than $5 million in damages. Plaintiffs alleged that Sony knew it was at risk for cyber attack but did not take precautions to protect its data.
