Governor Signs California’s Ban-the-Box Law

Governor Jerry Brown has signed into law California’s version of a “ban-the-box” law. State and workers must determine if a job applicant is qualified before asking about the applicant’s criminal record. The bill codifies and expands a policy implemented by way of executive order from Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.
