Google, Oracle Promise Not To Research Jurors In IP Trial

Ahead of a major copyright lawsuit, Google and Oracle have agreed to a judge’s demand that they not research potential jurors, rather than the other option of revealing the scope of their online searching to the jury pool. According to U.S. District Judge William Alsup, Oracle was the firm dragging its feet. The restrictions are more stringent than those established by the American Bar Association, and include opting out of any information hidden behind a privacy wall. In the lawsuit, which has already been in play for five years, Oracle claims that Google’s Android operating system infringed on its Java technology.
