GM CEO Stands By GC, But Should She?

General Motors CEO Mary Barra’s is coming under criticism, including from members of Congress, for her staunch defense of long-time company general counsel Michael Milikin, in the midst of a 6 million-vehicle recall after defects were linked to at least a dozen fatalities. Some observers told Forbes that they believe Barra should instead have urged Milikin to take the fall, or at least take retirement, as the systemic suppression of damning information “suggested awful things happening on [Milikin’s] watch [or] at worst, may have made him at least negligent.”
