Gaming Firm Files Copyright Infringement Suit Against Authors Of Popular Hack

Gaming company Blizzard Entertainment is taking a stand against programmers who create and sell cheats that provide a competitive advantage in the popular Starcraft II game. Alleging copyright infringement. Blizzard filed suit in a California federal court, claiming the creators of the “ValiantChaos MapHack” cheat are putting legitimate Starcraft II players at a disadvantage, thus undermining value for Blizzard as well. “Defendants create and sell their unlawful software products with the knowledge that they are facilitating and promoting users to infringe Blizzard’s copyrights, to breach their contracts with Blizzard, and to otherwise violate Blizzard’s rights,” the company wrote.
