Former VA Governor, Wife, Indicted By Feds

Former Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell and his wife were formally charged Jan. 21 with accepting expensive gifts, vacations, loans and the use of a private jet in exchange for using their political power to promote a Virginia company’s dietary supplement products. The 14-count indictment, which carries up to 30 years in prison, centers on gifts and loans the McDonnell received from Star Scientific Inc.’s then-CEO Jonnie Williams Sr., including a Rolex watch, thousands of dollars worth of clothes, and money to help pay for a wedding for the couple’s daughter.
