Former Treasury GC George W. Madison Joins Sidley Austin LLP

Sidley Austin LLP has announced that George W. Madison, former general counsel of the Department of the Treasury, has joined the law firm as a partner in the firm’s global Banking and Financial Services practice. Madison worked as the general counsel for the Treasury Department from September of 2009 to June 2012. President Barack Obama appointed Madison to the position and he was unanimously confirmed by the U.S. Senate. Madison also worked as the executive vice president and general counsel of the Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association – College Retirement Equities Fund prior to joining the Treasury Department. Prior to this position, Madison held the position of executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary of Comerica Incorporated.
