Former GC Found Guilty Of Attempted Murder, Despite Novel Defense

Michael Farren, former GC of Xerox Corp and a White House Lawyer in both Bush Administrations, was convicted of trying to murder his wife by a Connecticut jury on July 14. Farren, who fired his lawyers during the trial, maintained he hadn’t actually attempted to kill his wife because, despite having easy access to both guns and a samurai sword that he kept in the house, he chose to beat her over the with a flashlight. Mary Margaret Farren, a former Skadden Arps lawyer, escaped when her husband halted his attack briefly to urinate.
