Flood Of Money Expected In Pennsylvania Supreme Court Race

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court, an appellate court that predates the U.S. Supreme Court, will have three vacancies on the 2015 ballot, the largest number ever at stake in one election in the state. In 2014 one justice resigned after it was discovered he forwarded sexually explicit emails, and public feuds between justices received wide media coverage. An opening had also been created by the felony conviction of a judge in 2013. The turbulence, the number of open spots, and the dismantling of contribution barriers by the Supreme Court’s Citizen United decision are expected to add up to an expensive, noisy and controversial selection process and campaign leading up to next year’s judicial elections.
