Firefighter Sues Department For Defamation In Plane Crash Survivor Death

A San Francisco firefighter claims discrimination led the department to attempt to saddle her with the blame for running over a young woman lying beside the wreckage of the Asiana Airlines flight that crash landed in the city July 6. The firefighter, Elyse Duckett, claims her rig was not the first to roll over Ye Meng Yuan, a 16-year old who survived the crash but was then killed when a rescue vehicle ran over her. Duckett claims the fire department singled her out because she is African-American and a lesbian. She also says her name was then given to the press, which ran the story globally. She seeks $300,000 in damages.
