Ferrari Patent Reveals Plans For Hybrid

Luxury automaker Ferrari has filed a series of patents over the last year with the European Patent Register that hint the company is planning to make a hybrid vehicle with a front engine – an unexpected move, as Chairman Luca di Montezemolo has said the company “will never manufacture an electric car as long as I’m chairman.” The Italian sports car company recently released a limited number of “mild hybrid” cars, the $1.3-million-each LaFarrari. The patents suggest the company may be considering a hybrid model with more broad market appeal.
