Ferment In TV-Media Industries Continues With Two Appeals Court Actions

Last week the Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit held that Dish Network, with its line of digital video recorders capable of skipping commercials, does not violate copyright law. Earlier, an appeals court declined to rehear a case in which broadcasters failed to stop Aero, which picks up tv signals and then streams them to consumers over the internet. Both decisions continue a years-long trend that is empowering consumers and keeping the business models for both content creation and distribution in ferment.
