Ferguson Court Clerk Fired For Racist Comments, Finds Work in Nearby Court

Fired after a Justice Department investigation discovered racist emails, Ferguson, Mo. court clerk Mary Ann Twitty now works in Vinita Park, a town southwest of Ferguson. After the shooting death of Michael Brown by a police officer one year ago, federal civil rights officials investigated Ferguson’s municipal court system. Twitty and two police officers were fired over racist email exchanges. A March 4 report called the emails, “unequivocally derogatory, dehumanizing, and demonstrative of impermissible bias.”
