Female CEOs Outearn Men

Female CEOs for S&P 500 corporations out-earn their male counterparts, according to a new analysis of the largest public U.S. companies by the Associated Press and Equilar. Analysts propose a few possibilities for the shift. George Washington University researchers James Bailey and Margaret Ormiston suggested it could be a supply-and-demand issue. “’We’ve done bad things in the past, and therefore by hiring a woman we should be forgiven and it helps make up for what we’ve done,’” Bailey wrote. Others note that this makes the case for transparency to close the gender pay gap.
