Fed Dodges Lawmaker’s Order To Reveal Internal Leakers

The Federal Reserve has so far not complied with a request from a Congressman for the names of Fed staffers who divulged policy deliberation details to a private consulting firm before the information was public. In October 2012, Medley Global Advisors provided its clients with a report that contained “sensitive details” from the Fed’s September 2012 meeting, according to an article in the Wall Street Journal. The details were were subsequently released in public minutes. Chair of the House Financial Services Committee, Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas), wrote to Fed Chair Janet Yellen on April 15 asking that she name the employees who leaked the information, but the stated deadline of April 22 passed without a response.
