FCC Considering Proposal To Ban ‘Redskins’ From TV

A George Washington University law professor’s petition to sanction broadcast stations who use the term “Redskins” when referring to the Washington, D.C. NFL team is being considered by the FCC, according to Chairman Tom Wheeler . Wheeler has previously said he finds the term “offensive and derogatory,” and the agency does have authority to issue sanctions for indecent or obscene content. Former FCC Chairman, Reed Hundt, last year sent a letter to team owner Dan Snyder urging him to change the team’s name.
