Fans Hit Manny Pacquiao With Class Action Lawsuit
May 6, 2015
Two fans have sued Manny Pacquiao, alleging they were defrauded because Pacquiao did not disclose a shoulder injury before the fight. The two plaintiffs, Stephane Vanel and Kami Rahbaran, are seeking class action status on behalf of anyone who bought tickets or pay-per-view, or who bet on the fight. The LA Times reports that before the fight Pacquiao had checked a box that said “no” where it asked if he had suffered a shoulder injury. After the fight, he said that in the 4th round he reaggravated a shoulder injury he had suffered while sparring on April 4. He was said to be scheduled for rotator cuff surgery this week. Pacquiao’s manager and promoter are co-defendants in the suit, which was filed in federal court in Nevada.
