Facebook Posts Should Disqualify Judge, Says AG

In November 2014, Judge Olu Stevens dismissed a Kentucky jury panel made up almost entirely of white potential jurors. Commonwealth’s Attorney General Tom Wine asked the state Supreme Court to weigh in on whether Olu had the authority to dismiss the jury based on racial composition. Olu has since taken to Facebook to decry the motion. “Going to the Kentucky Supreme Court to protect the right to impanel all-white juries is not where we need to be in 2015,” Stevens wrote. Stevens, who is black, also scolded victims of a home invasion earlier this year for saying the crime would leave their child with a “constant fear of black men.”
