Facebook Legal Takes A Media Hit

In a New York Times article about alleged misuse of the Facebook platform by Russian operatives, the slant is clearly tilted against legal, which comes off as secretive and cautious on the matter of disclosure, in contrast to the company’s security group. Citing anonymous current and former Facebook employees, the Times article says that a central tension at the company “has been that of the legal and policy teams versus the security team. The security team generally pushed for more disclosure about how nation states had misused the site, but the legal and policy teams have prioritized business imperatives…”
