Facebook Hires Judge Paul S. Grewal For Global Litigation

U.S. Magistrate Paul S. Grewal, who has overseen many significant IP cases from his bench in Silicon Valley, will leave to join Facebook next month. There he will oversee global litigation for the social media giant’s in-house legal department. Grewal presided over settlement conferences in Apple v. Samsung and Oracle v. Google, amongst other recent landmark IP cases. He also aligned with a movement dubbed the “magistrate’s revolt,” in which judges have refused to sign off on government requests for digital surveillance they found to be overreaching.
