Extension Requested In Boston Bomber Case

Lawyers for the accused Boston Marathon bomber say they need the trial postponed until September 2015 to have time to review thousands of items of physical evidence. If granted, the request would mean court proceedings against Dzhokhar Tsarnaev would not begin until more than two years after a bomb exploded at the April 15, 2013 race in downtown Boston, killing three and leaving more than 250 injured. The Department of Justice has said it will be seeking the death penalty in the case, and when the trial does start it is expected to last about 12 weeks. Tsarnaev has pled not guilty to all charges.
