Experts Predict Future Of E-Discovery

In an article for Today’s General Counsel, Jim Gill from Exterro talks to six e-discovery experts with a combined 80-plus years of industry experience, to get their take on future trends. One big topic is the new types of data that are being generated – categories including video, audio and new kinds of metadata, as well as social media- and the kinds of requirements they in turn generate for new retrieval, search and review tools. In a development that some may find alarming and that others will see as an opportunity, the line between “banter” and discoverable data seems to be disappearing. Another major topic of discussion: the effect of the amendments to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure amendments and how e-discovery practitioners can leverage them to their advantage.
