Eric Holder To Resign

U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, the first African-American to hold the position, plans to step down. NPR suggests Holder may consider returning to Covington & Burling, the law firm where he spent years representing corporate clients. Holder has served as the nation’s top attorney for more than five years, a tenure marked by difficult issues of race, gay marriage, voting rights and legalization of marijuana, among others. Holder plans to leave once his successor is confirmed, , a potentially contentious process that may last through 2014 or into the new year.
