Employee Gag Law Is Challenged In NC Federal Court

A recently passed North Carolina law made it easier for employers to go after people who get themselves hired with the intention of documenting violations or abusive practices in the workplace. Now, in a lawsuit mounted by animal rights and other groups, that law has been challenged in federal court. Among the arguments made by employers pushing for the law was that it was needed to prevent theft of intellectual property. Nationally, reports the Christian Science Monitor, so-called ag-gag laws have been passed in at least 10 states, but in two states where they have been challenged in court, they are not faring well.
