Drones Not Covered By FAA Regulations, Judge Rules

Businesses hoping to use drone aircraft were given a boost this week when a National Transportation Safety Board judge dismissed a $10,000 fine the Federal Aviation Administration had imposed on a man who shot a commercial featuring a drone. The FAA has no enforceable rules on that type of aircraft, the NTSB’s Judge Patrick Geraghty ruled. Congress has ordered the FAA to write safety rules regarding drones by 2015, but meanwhile businesses like Lakemaid brewery and Amazon have already expressed interest in using the small aircraft to deliver goods to customers.
