After reviewing the number of work-related injuries from 2016-2021, the study found that Indiana was the safest state for workers. Michigan was second. North Dakota had the most work-related injuries per 100,000, with South Dakota and Nebraska close behind. Plumbers are the most commonly hurt tradespeople among all building trades according to another study, this one by AmTrust Financial, which also found that new contractors and laborers tend to account for most job site accidents. Falls and strains are the most common worksite injuries and require the longest recovery times. The U.S. had more than 64,000 workplace injuries from 2016-2021, giving the country an average of 19.75 injuries per 100,000 people during the period. Overall, the U.S. workplace is getting less dangerous as health and safety regulations continue to push down the number of workplace injuries.
