DOJ Ends Battle With Barry Bonds

After years of legal battling with baseball player Barry Bonds, in which the only conviction was overturned by an appeals court, the DOJ has dropped the final piece of its case against the former home run king. DOJ was trying to prove that Bonds used performance-enhancing drugs during his record-setting career, but the only conviction they secured – an obstruction of justice charge – was overturned by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. In 2007 Bonds was indicted on felony charges of obstruction of justice and perjury for testimony in 2003, in which he said he had never knowingly using anabolic steroids or human growth hormone. “The finality of today’s decision gives me great peace,” Bonds told the Associated Press.
