Defensible Data Deletion

“DD” is an acronym worth adding to the in-house lexicon. It stands for “defensible disposition,” which is defined by Deloitte’s Richard Vestuto as the process by which an organization can weave its way through the web of regulations, legal holds, business needs, etc. “to target electronically stored information (ESI) which has outlived its usefulness.” In this post, Vestuto is engaged in a Q&A about defensible dispositon with attorney Mike Hamilton, from e-discovery software company Exterro. Recently Deloitte and Exterro teamed up to produce a webcast on the subject, and it’s provided as a link to this post, along with a shorter five-minute overview.
