De Blasio Names Zachary Carter Top NYC Lawyer

New York City’s mayor-elect, Bill de Blasio named Dorsey & Whitney partner Zachary W. Carter as corporation counsel. Carter will replace Michael A. Cardozo, who has served as corporation counsel and overseen the Law Department through all three of Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s terms. De Blasio has already pledged to reverse two of Bloomberg’s major legal battles: litigation over the NYPD’s stop-and-frisk practices and the lawsuit stemming from the Central Park Five case.
